Ryan grew up in Orem and currently resides in Springville with his wife and three daughters. He discovered a passion for music at the age of 10 while learning piano, then began studying percussion at the age of 12. After spending his teenage years listening to everything from Beatles to Beethoven, Ryan decided to pursue music seriously and earned a BA in Music from BYU. He then spent several years gigging with various bands all over Utah and teaching music lessons before deciding to pursue a MM in Jazz Performance at UCO in Edmond, OK.
He gave up the music career path in favor of something more stable – working in Utah’s booming tech industry – but music remains his great passion in life. He’s a believer in the words of the great Penn Jillette, “One of the things that makes life worth living is giving other people joy,” which is why playing with Broomhead Brothers is his preferred hobby.
When not jamming or honing his musical craft, Ryan enjoys relaxing with his family. He’s also a huge sports fan, an avid chess player, and a collector of hobby models.
